Your name, email address, phone number and postal address. Photos and descriptions of the items you post. A record of what you have given and received, and of any pickup you arranged but did not attend.
We ask for your address because this platform only works if someone can come and collect. We do not ask for anything we do not need.
Nobody, until you decide. While people are browsing, they see only your area and your city — never your street address or your phone number.
When you approve a request, that one person is shown your phone number and your full address so they can come and collect. This cannot be undone afterwards: once someone has your address, cancelling does not unlearn it. We tell you this before you post, not after.
When you ask for an item, the person giving it sees your name, your area, your reason, and how many items you have given, received and failed to collect. They do not see your phone number or your street address unless they approve you. If they approve you, they are shown your full name, phone number and full address, so the two of you can arrange the pickup.
We do not sell your information. We do not advertise to you. We do not share your details with anyone outside the foundation, except with the one person you approve, as described above, and with the services listed below that run the site.
Staff at the foundation can see your contact details when they are looking into a report or a dispute. Every time they do, it is recorded.
A few companies run parts of this site for us: Vercel hosts the website, MongoDB Atlas stores the database, Cloudinary stores and resizes the photos of items, and Resend sends our emails. They handle your information only so that the site can work; we do not give it to them for any other purpose.
Photos of items are public, because everyone browsing has to be able to see them. Do not photograph anything that shows your house number, your address or anyone’s face.
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking and no analytics on this site.
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from your profile page. Your name, email, phone number and address are erased.
Items you have already given remain in the record, shown as coming from a deleted user, because the people who received them rely on that history. Nothing that identifies you stays behind.
If you want to know what we hold about you, or you think something is wrong, contact the foundation and we will answer.
